State Efforts
Maryland’s state agencies are working together to advance electric vehicle adoption through strategic planning, infrastructure investment, and financial incentives.
Maryland National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Plan
The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) developed the Maryland State Plan for National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) to access federal funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Approved in 2022, the NEVI Plan allows Maryland to invest approximately $63 million in EV charging infrastructure between 2022–2026.
Maryland Zero Emission Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Council (ZEEVIC)
ZEEVIC supports zero emission vehicle (ZEV) adoption across the state by:
- Developing policies and incentives to promote EV ownership
- Encouraging private-sector investment in EV infrastructure
- Recommending statewide charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure strategies
- Supporting the successful integration of ZEVs into Maryland’s transportation network
